Facebook remains one of the largest platforms for business visibility. Here's how to set up your page properly from the start.
Step 1 — Go to facebook.com/pages/create and select your business category. Choose the category that most accurately describes your business; you can add secondary categories later.
Step 2 — Enter your business name, address, phone number, and website. Consistency matters — use the exact same name and details as your Google Business Profile and other listings.
Step 3 — Upload a profile picture (your logo, 170×170px minimum) and a cover photo (1640×856px recommended). These are the first things visitors see, so use clean, high-quality images that reflect your brand.
Step 4 — Complete every field in the 'About' section. Add your business hours, price range, founding year, and a concise description. Pages with complete information rank better in Facebook search and appear more trustworthy.
Step 5 — Add a call-to-action button. Facebook offers options like 'Book Now', 'Contact Us', 'Shop Now', or 'Send Message'. Choose the action most aligned with your business goal and link it to the right destination.
Step 6 — Publish your first 3–5 posts before promoting the page. A page with content looks established and gives visitors a reason to follow. Mix content types: a welcome post, a service highlight, a behind-the-scenes photo, and a link to your website.
Step 7 — Invite your existing contacts to like the page and share it across your other channels — email signature, website, LinkedIn profile. Consider a small 'page likes' campaign to build initial momentum, but focus on content quality over follower count.
